Abstract (EN)
A golden record is a single, authoritative representation of an entity — customer, product, supplier — derived from multiple source systems. Building one requires three explicit decisions: which system is the system of record for each attribute, how conflicts are resolved when sources disagree, and how downstream systems consume the record. This article describes those decisions in the context of Italian SMEs, where source systems are rarely replaceable and MDM must work alongside legacy ERP, CRM and warehouse systems rather than replacing them.
